Musicianship includes a lot of different aspects. First of all a musician is someone who plays an instrument. And instrument is An object that makes a sound. There our woodwind instruments. These instruments have a reed that makes sound waves to create different pitches. Brass instruments have a mouthpiece where the lips buzz and create a high and low pitches. The flute is the woodland instrument that does not have a reed. It just has a metal tube the player plays by blowing air over the top of the instrument all the other reed instruments used reads the the clarinet the bass clarinet and the saxophones are very common would wind instruments. The brass instruments that are common are the trumpet French horn baritone and tuba. There are also musicians that play percussion instruments such as drums and bells. All instrumentalists need to have a good musicianship. Good musicianship comes from good training. Good training comes from a good curriculum. V in The zone band method book is of complete curriculum. It includes 10 levels of learning. Part of musician ship starts with good posture. Good posture starts from the feet and works. The trumpet player needs to sit with his feet flat on the ground. He then needs to sits up in his chair so that they his back is straight. He then needs to hold his instrument up level with the ground. And relaxes elbows. You do not want to put your elbows outward or have them into close to your ribs. You do not want to be uncomfortable. Once you’re in the proper playing position you can proceed to play your instrument. Playing scales and long tones are important to develop proper playing. It is also important to have other areas of musicianship. Students need to learn to play with others in the group. It is important for everyone to play at the same tempo. The tempo is the speed at which musician is playing. If the students play different speeds they will not stay together in the song. It is also important that students play the proper dynamics. Dynamics let the students know how loud or soft they should play. It is important that the person with the melody is heard. Students that do not have the melody should play slightly softer so that the melody can be heard. It is important that we hear all parts of a cord. We do not want to just hear one part. It is important to help others out in your ensemble. Students should try to learn their music at home on their own. This is called practicing they should practice their part until they can play all of the notes in rhythms and dynamics and articulations. Then they should come to school and get together with the other instrumentalists in their section such as all the trumpets. Then they should practice through all the trumpet parts. They should take time to look at their beginning band method black to ensure that they are playing correctly. Each student should individually learn their part to the best of their ability. Then they should practice with their section and perfect their part. Then they should get together with the entire group and make beautiful music together. Musicianship is very complex. Part of it is how you put your own music. Part of it is how you play with others. In part of it can even be the audience. It is important as a musician to be a good audience member. Sometimes musicians will have a rest while others are being featured. It is important to be a good listener while others are playing. In orchestras it can be hundreds of measures of rest before some people will play. Is important to not fall asleep during a performance while others are playing and you’re having a long rest. It is definitely rude to sleep during a performance when you are performing. To avoid sleeping during the performance musicians can plan to sleep at night or they could take a nap prior to the performance. This is just a good precaution to avoid falling asleep during the performance. Staying awake is always a very good idea while one is performing. This is one advantage to being part of a marching band in a school band program. It seems that it is harder to fall asleep while marching then it is in a nice comfortable concert Hall. It also helps if you’re sitting in front of a loud section such as the trumpets or the French horns. If the trumpets are playing loudly behind you you’re more likely to stay awake due to the loudness of the instrument. The trumpets are especially loud if they’re playing in the upper register remember always be a good musician and practice out of your beginning band method book.
