Trinidad On Tuesday – Delbert Bump

$35.00

This is a Latin Jazz chart and is Medium in tempo. The up tempo side of Medium is recommended, but you will feel how the tempo best suits your players. There is definitely a Salsa type of flavor presented in this chart. The montuno piano line sets it up rhythmically in the beginning. The harmonic changes are challenging, and the line is also demanding. The performance of the sections of the tune with reference to the A,B, and C sections should be contrasting in your delivery. This is often hard to achieve, and I suggest discussion of the sections to interpret the form to best understand the performance possibilities.

The D section is a unison line that is very hip and must be played with the Latin feel. This section also is the end of the composition. The E section is a kind of Latin shout chorus. Played rather subtly, it will be very effective. The F section is again the montuno idea, with lines added over the rhythm section. The H section is the solo section which is the A and B material. After the first solo, you may choose to play the D material, or the E material between the solos as a kind of break or interlude idea. Again, you may use your imagination and create your own arrangement within the body of the piece. The D.S. al Fine will complete the chart. This chart is exciting and intricate. Have fun with this one. I hope you enjoy this music. Thank you.

Musically yours,
