Two Spring Dances – Wesley Day

This bassoon and piano duet was written in the spring of 2013 as part of my master’s degree in composition for Reed Hannah and Andrew Sohn, two outstanding musicians and personalities that attended the University of South Carolina at the same I did in pursuit of my MM in Composition. The piece paints a musical portrait of a South Carolina spring and its fickle weather, with sudden changes between warm and cool mood, colors and bird calls along with an infusion of jazz harmonies/progressions inspired by Bert Ligon and Chick Corea
